Tag – All About The Blogger

Hi guys! It’s my birthday today and I am enjoying my little break :). I thought it would be fun to share a bit more about myself as a blogger with this tag. I am sure some of you have been a little curious right? :p. So let’s get started!

1. Why did you start your blog?
Goodness there was a lot that went into it, but I will try to keep it brief :p

It took me years to finally start it up and I wanted to remember all of the nail art I had been creating. So at the time I intended on using it as a way to keep track of my nail art and how I created it or felt about it in that moment. (Like a personal nail art gallery or diary if you will) However, I did style my posts so that other people could read them as well – since this is a blog after all. lol I never really expected anyone actually being interested in my nail art though. I was also a little shy about it but after I started receiving a few followers here and there I did gradually update it so that my blog could be for anyone who wanted to read it. I continue to add new things and improve my blog for readers to this day. 🙂

2. Do you like your blog name?
Yes! I love it! Sorry that sounds conceited but I really am happy with it.I had actually started out with a different name (Lacquered Lily) in the beginning but it turned out someone already had the same exact name and was also a nail blogger. So to avoid confusion I spent countless hours over the course of a few days until I came up with the perfect name (to me anyway) lol. I didn’t want to settle with something I could potentially get bored of later, you know? 🙂

3. How long do you plan on having your blog?
I hope to keep it going for as long as I can do nail art; I have no intentions of quitting anytime soon. 🙂 I could use a break every now and again though hehehe.

4. Where do you get your inspiration (for your blog) from?
I dove in without any idea how to swim. I pretty much just picked a theme (not much to choose from) and then used Google  (a lot) to find out how-to add other little things I wanted lol. Like all of the buttons and other added visuals are images that I created myself. I think I am still using the same exact theme I started out with too, now that I think about it. 🙂

5. Do you normally create an outline before you do a post, or do you just go with the flow as you make the post?
Yes, I try to keep a consistent style throughout all of my posts. However, what I am specifically writing about is generally a go with the flow situation. haha 🙂

6. How long does it normally take you to finish your posts?

It varies depending on the content for that day. Sometimes it can take less than five minutes and other times it can take hours! :O

7. How many times a week do you try to post?
Three times a week. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That is a lot of nail art 😀

8. Do you find it hard to maintain your blog?
Ever once in a while, yes, but consistency is key! Creating a schedule really helps, because then I can plan other things around it rather than scheduling my blog around other things ;). If that doesn’t work out there is always “scheduled posting”.

9. If you have one, what is your follower goal?
For this blog, I honestly have no goal. I am happy with whatever ❤

10. Who do you tag to do this next? (Optional)
Anyone who would like to do it! Have fun! 🙂

If there are any other tags you would like me to do, don’t hesitate to mention them in the comments or tag me! I hope to do one of these every once in a while. Have a wonderful day! 😀

Tag – Love/Hate With A Twist!

freHi guys and happy Friday! Sorry for the lack of posts on Wednesday (and now today) it always takes so long to put together new looks now that I am creating videos; I keep running out of time to complete everything :/. I am hoping to return with new nail art on Monday though :).

I also want to mention that my birthday is next Friday and I have a lot of stuff planned over that week/weekend and so I may take a nice break from blogging (I’m sorry but I could really use one). I don’t want to completely leave you guys in the dust though so I am thinking of doing reposts or maybe even features. Let me know what you think ❤

For the time being I thought it would be fun to do another tag! This tag is the “Love/Hate” tag. I think it’s supposed to be just a general “about me” tag but since this is a nail blog I thought it would be fun to put a twist on it and make it nail art/polish related! So let’s get into it shall we? 😀

The Rules:

  1. Share 10 things you love and 10 you hate (about nail stuff :p hehehe)
  2. Nominate up to 10 blogs to do the same

Wow I thought the toughest part of this was going to be thinking of things I hate about nail art! There is nothing to hate about nail art!! :p How many of these are the same for you!? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Btw.. I am supposed to tag 10 other bloggers to do this, but I am just going to say that if any of you want to do this tag – feel free to! 🙂 You can say that I tagged you if you want though. Have fun! ❤

Nail Art Tutorial – Grayscale Leoaprd Design – Hand Painted Nail Art

20150704_045717bThe Nail Art:

Hi guys! How was your 4th of July weekend? (to those whom celebrate it). Hope you had fun and stayed safe :). Today I bring you some matte grayscale leopard nails with an added pop of color…. Wait a minute, I just realized that this is like my 3rd nail design using this grey polish. They were all matte as well (there was the moon nails and the quilted skull nails). Haha well I guess for some reason I have just been into gray/grey; whichever way you choose to spell it. I personally switch between the two all of the time. Okay, I am getting off track now – back to the nail design! So for this matte gray design I opted for some leopard print and decided on a grayscale/monochrome/black and white look lol. I was originally just going to stamp on a leopard print to make it quick and easy but then I decided to hand paint it all because I really wanted the grey print to be only a few shades darker than the base. Since I didn’t have a nail polish that was within a few shades of the base color, I went ahead and mixed black and white acrylic paint to ensure the perfect tone. To add a little pop and pizazz ( I really wanted to say that for some reason – I’m so lame haha) I added a bright blue/aqua color in a base triangle with a stripe. And for the tip of the day: to get the perfect stripe I painted strips of striping tape (that was a bit f a tongue twister there lol) with the same blue polish and then applied them to my nails. So much easier than trying to get a nice clean line with a wonky striping brush :p. Here is the Tutorial:

Simple Nail Art Using Essie Nail Wraps

20150506_234913aDoes anyone else have problems using nail wraps? I have never been too fond of them because I always seem to have problems with them adhering to my nails smoothly – I think my nails are too curved for them to work properly. It kind of makes me sad because there are so many cute designs out there! Sometimes I will just buy them anyways, thinking I will make them work somehow, but they just end up sitting in a box somewhere 😦

Well not anymore! I decided to give them one more try, this time by cutting them into smaller pieces and using them more like decals. In today’s design I used Essie Nail Wraps called Glam It On placed over Sinful Colors Winterberry (Yay another unused polish down – a few hundred more to go! lol). I kept the overall design of this manicure super simple as it was more of a test design than anything else.

20150506_234802aI started with 2 layers of the metallic purple and while I was waiting for it to dry I began cutting even strips of the nail wraps. I then placed a strip at the center of each nail and smoothed them out the best that I could. I decided to not apply any top coat so that the nail wraps wouldn’t warp. This also allowed for me to test the durability of the nail wraps on their own and I found that they stuck to my nails quite good!

I was pretty happy that by cutting the wraps into strips I was able to apply them to my nails a bit smoother. There were still some lumps in a few areas, which I expected a few, but overall it worked out much better for me this way. I am hoping I can use all my nail wraps this way now!

3d Stamping Nail Art – Majestic

20150112_024401Trial and error with this design! haha It took me quite a few attempts to get it just right, and it’s still not perfect. However I still love the end result, I think this may even be one of my favorite designs that I have done thus far. It is just so bright and intricate and of course I have to appreciate it for all the work I put into it lol.

For the base color I used this vibrant blue from Sinful Colors called Endless Blue. I knew the stamping would be a bit tricky for this particular design that I went ahead and added a layer of topcoat beforehand. Just in case I were to make any mistakes, this would make it a bit easier to resolve. For the actual stamping I decided to use Wet n Wild French White Creme since I have found that often times a thinner consistency of polish works better at filling in all of the details for intricate designs like this one which is from plate QA96.

After I finished the stamping (to the best I could haha) I sealed it with another layer of topcoat. Utilizing the little bit of time I had before it dried completely I added a large pearl to the center and began adorning the basic outline of the image with micro beads and striping tape. The end design kind of reminds me of Indian tapestries or perhaps henna designs. What do you think?
