Nail Art Stamping – Perched

20150514_160521aWhat is a bird without a tree to nest in? Some may say it is nothing, but a bird can still be perched upon a weakened branch with confidence knowing it has wings. DSC_0170a

Inspiration:

I believe this is the first nail design I have made that incorporates a bird, so I thought the little poetic intro would be a fun touch. I was actually inspired by a small gift box for this design (pictured above – it’s funny that it is better quality than the pics of my nail design haha). I did add my own touch to it by adding some copper striping tape (just a little pop of color nothing too drastic) which brought this design to a different level, but I like how it all came together. πŸ™‚20150514_160742aHow-To:

I started by applying 2 coats of SinfulColors Snow Me White and then with Kleancolor Black I stamped on a floral design from Cheeky Jumbo plate 10 – Happy Nails- onto 3 of the nails.

For the accent nail I stamped on the little bird image from Mash plate 30. After that dried, I placed a piece of tape around the center of my nails to create a space for a french manicure design which I filled in with more black.

I placed a piece of copper striping tape to add some color and to cover the raw edges and finished the look by applying a layer of Wet n Wild Matte Top Coat.

I hope you enjoy this look! πŸ™‚

Nail Art Wheel of May

20150509_180829Testing testing. 1, 2, 3. Does anyone ever read what I write? lol I am having one of those “blah” days; I feel exhausted and my mind is all cloudy… but I must attend to my blog! Even if I am sitting here trying to convince my self out of writing a post… It is just one of those moments where I am like ” Nobody reads it anyway”. haha But it is okay because I know writing isn’t my strong suit when it comes to this blog, and I’m sure a lot of what I do write probably isn’t very interesting either haha. There are just so many times where I have no idea what to talk about or what you guys want to read. Help a girl a out here! A penny for your thoughts? πŸ™‚ In the meantime enjoy what you are really here for: the nail art! :p

Hand Painted Nail Art – Sweet Florals

20150507_220330a

Hey look, more roses! I needed a bit of a break after doing so many stamped designs last week so here is another attempt at some freehand flowers. The roses themselves are a bit blothcy.Β  Again, they looked great in low-light but in the picture they were not blended enough. It’s okay though because I am living for this ombre! Isn’t it lovely? ❀ Here is what I used:

Colors:

Sinful Shine – Al Fresco

Sinful Colors – Candy Coated

Pink Acrylic Paint

White Acrylic Paint

Teal Acrylic Paint

Nail Art Stamping – Pro

20150521_205241a

So here is my 3rd entry into the Instagram contest. This time I chose the model from the Pro Collection and I pulled my inspiration from her pencil skirt and thigh high stockings. Her stockings are not as noticeable in the smaller cropped image of her but it is more apparent in the full pictures of her. I suppose in comparison though, the design on my nails in upside down. lol

20150521_205326For the lace part I taped off the tips of my nails and stamped on a lace image from MoYou London plate Bridal 07 with Kleancolor Black. I then placed another piece of tape leaving only the tips of my nails revealed, and filled it in with Color Club Rad Nomad (I think this color is retired). I then cut a small piece of black striping tape to place down the center of each nail and applied top coat to complete this lace stocking look. Here are the products I used:

Nail Art Stamping – Zodiac

20150518_235109a

Hello everyone! This is my second entry into the MoYou London Instagram contest. This time I chose the pin up character from the Zodiac Collection. I was really drawn in by her colorful hair and whimsical pose, so I based today’s nail art mostly off of those elements.20150518_235233I focused on her hair color as my nail polish base and sponged on a purple, teal and blue ombre. I next took some inspiration from her v-neck blouse and created a V going down my nail with a silver Holo polish, I opted for this color to represent the stars she has on and that is represented in the theme of this collection. I really wanted to stamp some stars over the silver but I did not have any MoYou plates with stars :/. I decided to choose a more “whimsical” like pattern and ended up going with the little lace detail from Tourist plate 07. I incorporated some silver star rhinestones and black rhinestones on my accent nail to pull the look together and I completed the look by applying a layer of Seche Vite top coat. Here are the products I used:

Colors used:

Milani – Violet Dash

LA Girl Disco Brites – Vinyl Record

Sinful Shine – Al Fresco

Milani 3D Holographic – HD

Kleancolor – Black

Nail Art Stamping – Rebel

20150516_213927a

I mustache you all a question: Are you guys following MoYou London on Instagram? Because they are doing their monthly contest! It only lasts for this week so go check it out! This month the theme is to create a manicure inspired by one of their pin up characters. For today’s entry I chose the model from the Rebel Collection. I decided to make a look based on her clothing, but I also added in the little mustache she is holding. πŸ™‚20150516_213923I was happy to know that I have a green color that matches her skirt pretty good, not so happy that I redid this manicure about 3 times because I could not stamp the lines straight enough to save my life lol. I pretty much gave up and dealt with it. It’s not that bad for my third attempt, only the pinky is a bit wonky. The excuse I am going to go with is that the lines on her shirt aren’t perfectly straight either haha. Here are the products I used to create this look:

Colors used:

Sinful Colors – Snow Me White

Kleancolor – Black

Revlon Colorstay – Spanish Moss

Wet n Wild Matte Top Coat

Simple Nail Art Using Essie Nail Wraps

20150506_234913aDoes anyone else have problems using nail wraps? I have never been too fond of them because I always seem to have problems with them adhering to my nails smoothly – I think my nails are too curved for them to work properly. It kind of makes me sad because there are so many cute designs out there! Sometimes I will just buy them anyways, thinking I will make them work somehow, but they just end up sitting in a box somewhere 😦

Well not anymore! I decided to give them one more try, this time by cutting them into smaller pieces and using them more like decals. In today’s design I used Essie Nail Wraps called Glam It On placed over Sinful Colors Winterberry (Yay another unused polish down – a few hundred more to go! lol). I kept the overall design of this manicure super simple as it was more of a test design than anything else.

20150506_234802aI started with 2 layers of the metallic purple and while I was waiting for it to dry I began cutting even strips of the nail wraps. I then placed a strip at the center of each nail and smoothed them out the best that I could. I decided to not apply any top coat so that the nail wraps wouldn’t warp. This also allowed for me to test the durability of the nail wraps on their own and I found that they stuck to my nails quite good!

I was pretty happy that by cutting the wraps into strips I was able to apply them to my nails a bit smoother. There were still some lumps in a few areas, which I expected a few, but overall it worked out much better for me this way. I am hoping I can use all my nail wraps this way now!
